Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole will miss Sunday's match against his former club Chelsea with a hamstring strain.
Glen Johnson has overcome a thigh problem to face his previous employers, and Dirk Kuyt may recover in time from an ankle injury.
Chelsea's Florent Malouda has recovered from an ankle strain, but Michael Essien is doubtful with a toe problem.
Ramires is on standby, with Frank Lampard not yet ready to return following a hernia operation.
